About

Our Story
My name is Alicia Volcy and I'm the owner of Studio Volcy. We make design, development and construction projects accessible for organizations that serve vulnerable communities. I have a passion for creating habitable spaces that embrace the cultural climate and acknowledge the economic disparities that are often present in the communities that I serve.
I'm originally from a small neighborhood in South Florida, often called 'the mecca of Broward County', Carver Ranches. I graduated from the #1 HBCU in the country, Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU), where I obtained the two degrees that led me to this passion for design. In 2011, I moved to Pittsburgh as a UDREAM Fellow at Carnegie Mellon University. My work experience ranges from construction management, architectural design and interior design. After spending 10 + years in the industry, I decided to take this combined knowledge and develop a creative studio where we cast the vision and then bring it to life.
Our goal is to create dwelling spaces, learning facilities & pocket retail destinations that can be catalysts in revitalizing the neighborhoods we work in. Our commitment to question the standards of traditional redevelopment affords us the opportunity to design and realize places that are rich in culture and loved by the community.

Infill Development

Our depth of experience in the architecture and construction industries allows us to design and facilitate the development of mixed-use projects, boutique apartments and small pocket neighborhoods.

Interior Design

We provide interior design services for local non-profit and for-profit businesses.

Project Management

We help our clients take their construction projects from start up to completion. We provide assistance from the design phase all the way through construction administration.
